Sejak digelar mulai tahun 2003, Yamaha Indonesia disebut berhasil menggondol gelar terbanyak, dengan menjadi juara umum pada tahun 2003, 2004, 2006, 2009, dan 2010.
Thailand menjadi pesaing terdekat dengan koleksi gelar pada tahun 2005, 2007, dan 2008. Sementara pada tahun 2011 ajang ini tidak dilaksanakan karena adanya bencana banjir di Thailand.
“Sesuai tema Menuju Pentas Dunia, Yamaha Indonesia selalu mempersiapkan pebalap-pebalapnya di ajang kompetisi berjenjang. Yamaha Cup Race dan ASEAN Cup Race salah satunya untuk naik lebih tinggi lagi sampai ke kompetisi dunia,” kata Manajer Motorsport Yamaha Indonesia Supriyanto dalam rilis yang diterima detikSport.
“Pengalaman yang didapatkan pembalap di dua ajang itu sangat berharga. Dan kami harapkan di Asean Cup Race tahun ini Indonesia bakal juara lagi,” paparnya.
Seperti diberitakan sebelumnya, 10 wakil Yamaha Indonesia ASEAN Cup Race 2012 sudah terpilih seiring dengan rampung digelarnya final Yamaha Cup Race di sirkuit Mandala Krida, Yogyakarta, Sabtu (1/12/2012) lalu.
