Dalam wawancara-wawancara setelah pertandingan terakhir itu, Sir Alex Ferguson sempat menyebutkan bahwa kalah lewat selisih gol adalah sebuah hal yang menyakitkan. Pernyataan ini diamini oleh Giggs.
“Kegagalan itu menyakitkan karena musim lalu adalah musim yang sulit dan kami ingin menjadi juara di penghujungnya. Itu adalah tujuan utama bagi semua pemain United dan tujuan utama Manchester United sebagai tim,” ucap Giggs seperti dilansir Soccerway.
“Selalu sulit jika Anda kalah dari rival terberat Anda atau jika Anda kalah dari rival yang berada satu kota dengan Anda, itu sedikit sulit untuk dipercaya.”
“Tapi, siapa pun yang menjadi juara, mereka layak mendapatkannya. Jadi, Manchester City memang layak mendapatkannya.”
“Sekarang semuanya tergantung kami, apakah kami bisa bangkit di musim berikutnya dan berusaha supaya hal tersebut tidak terulang lagi.”
Akhir pekan ini, Minggu (9/12/2012), MU akan bertanding menghadapi City di Etihad Stadium. Saat ini MU tengah memimpin klasemen sementara dengan keunggulan tiga poin atas City.
